Activities & Events 2022 On 31 January 2022 CII representatives took part in the meeting of UNECE CSO engagment mechanism for SDGs devoted to to stakeholder engagement in the 2022 VNRs. The meeting was held online. On 6-7 April 2022 CII representative took part in the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE region, aimed at finding solutions to recover from the effects of COVID-19. World leaders: UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, UNECE Executive Secretary Olga Algayerova and many others had participated in the event. On 25-27 May, 2022 CII representatives took part in the ECE/CECI 15th Session Committee on Innovation, Competitiveness and Public-Private Partnerships in virtual format.In the substantive segment, the Committee held an international policy dialogue on using the potential of procurement to enhance innovation for sustainable development from the perspective of the two areas of work – innovation policy and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) – with a link to the circular economy agenda and digital and green transformations in the ECE region. On 31 May, 2022 CII representatives took part in the online UNCTAD event “Empowering MSMEs to harness the opportunities from transitioning to sustainable trade and a circular economy in the context of the post COVID recovery”. On 1-2 September, 2022 CII representatives took part in OHCHR Regional seminar on the contribution of development to the enjoyment of all human rights (Europe and Central Asia).Opening remarks were provided by Ms. Nada Al-Nashif, Acting High Commissioner for Human Rights, H.E. Mr. Federico Villegas, President of the Human Rights Council and Mr. Dmitry Mariyasin, Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. On 15 November, 2022 CII representatives took part in WIPO 4th online sharing session “Closing the Gender Gap in Intellectual Property (IP) – Women and Tourism”. On 1 - 2 December, 2022 CII representatives took part in the Sixth session of the UNECE Working Party on Public-Private Partnerships. The session had focused on how infrastructure projects that are compliant with the UNECE “PPPs for the SDGs” approach can promote sustainability, circularity and economic recovery, and reconstruction within the UNECE region and globally. Goals of the session: - To increase knowledge on the extent to which PPPs can be used for reconstruction and economic recovery; - To consider how the increasing digital transformation of PPPs can improve the delivery of PPP projects for sustainable development; -To chart a path for the Working Party towards the development and use of new and existing tools, guidelines standards and capacity building activities that promote high-quality projects that contribute to accelerate the SDG implementation in the ECE region through PPPs.
Activities & Events 2021 On December 17, 2021 was held the XIIth International Conference "International Cooperation: Innovation as a Tool for Social and Economic Changes", conducted within the premises of the Russian Academy of Sciences in hybrid format (online and off-line), due to COVID restrictions. It was devoted to implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Plenary Session “COVID-19 and International Cooperation to Overcome its Impact” was held in English and Russian language. The purpose of the conference was to create a communication platform for: exchange of best practices in social and economic areas; ensuring the inclusion of innovations in the modern model of education, increasing the mobility of education; definition of favorable conditions for the implementation of various forms of international cooperation. On 25-26 January 2021 CII representatives took part in the International Climate Adaptation Summit 2021 (CAS 2021), aimed at finding solutions to adapt to the effects of climate change, such as extreme downpours, drought, heat and rising sea levels. The meeting was held online. World leaders: Angela Merkel, Ban Ki-moon, John Kerry and UN Secretary General Guterres had participated in the summit. On 5-12 February, 2021 CII representatives took part in the Civil Society Forum 2021 during the UN Commission for Social Development in virtual format.. Priority Theme: Inclusive and resilient recovery from COVID-19 for sustainable livelihoods, well-being and dignity for all: eradicating poverty and hunger in all its forms and dimensions to achieve the 2030 Agenda. Emerging Issue: National policies and measures implemented by Member States to combat hunger and poverty in times of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Challenges to get on track towards the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda. On 2- 4 June, 2021 CII representatives took part in the 14th Session of the UN ECE Committee on Innovation, Competitiveness and Public-Private Partnerships (CICPPP). The meeting was held online from the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland). On 22-24 September, 2021 CII representatives took part in the UNCTAD15 Civil Society Forum. It was organized in virtual format from 22 to 24 September 2021 with a continuation from 3 to 7 October 2021, as part of the official programme of UNCTAD15. This Civil Society Forum was intended to contribute to the transformative discourse that needs to take place to address some of the systemic and structural inequalities in the trade and development space. On 11-12 October, 2021 CII representatives took part in the 13h Session of the HRC/Social Forum in virtual format.The meeting was held online from the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland). Theme: "Good practices, success stories, lessons learned and challenges in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, with a special focus on international cooperation and solidarity, and from a human rights perspective". On 18 - 22 October, 2021 CII representatives took part in the UNCTAD World Investment Forum in virtual format. The theme of UNCTAD 15, ”From Inequality and Vulnerability to Prosperity for All”, provided a platform to re-energize and refocus development efforts and commitments. The 7th World Investment Forum will focus on “Investing in sustainable recovery”, addressing today’s key challenge facing the global investment-development community. Building forward better will not be possible without reigniting investment, both domestic and international, as an engine of growth. The Forum will specifically tackle the challenges and opportunities arising from the new industrial revolution, the sustainability imperative, the realignment of economic governance, and the efforts for greater economic resilience. On December 22-23, 2020 was held the XIth International Conference "International Cooperation: Innovation as a Tool for Social and Economic Changes", conducted online, due to COVID restrictions. It was devoted to 75th anniversary of the UN and implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Plenary Session “COVID-19 and International Cooperation to Overcome its Impact” was held in English language on December 22, 2020 and Russian language on December 23,2020. The purpose of the conference was to create a communication platform for: exchange of best practices in social and economic areas; ensuring the inclusion of innovations in the modern model of education, increasing the mobility of education; definition of favorable conditions for the implementation of various forms of international cooperation. On December 15-16, 2020 CII representatives took part in the conference on Global Leadership for the 21st Century, a joint initiative of the United Nations Office at Geneva and the World Academy of Art & Science to develop catalytic strategies for addressing the complex nexus of global leadership challenges. On December 10, 2020 CII representatives took part in ECE/HLM meeting - Post COVID-19 Recovery Action Plan for Infoal Settlements in the UNECE Region. The meeting was held online from the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland). On September-December, 2020 CII specialists had implemented research and training project for the development of e-commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic under the contract with UNDP. On October 21,23 and 27, 2020 CII representatives took part in the meetings of the UNECE Team of specialists on innovation and competitiveness policy on “Building Back Better: Using Platforms to Enable Sharing and Progress towards the Circular Economy” and “Building Back Better: Innovation Enhancing Procurement for Sustainable Development”. The meeting was held online from the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland). On September 15-17, 2020 CII representatives took part in the 8th World Sustainability Forum, an international scientific conference coordinated by MDPI, partially sponsored by the MDPI Sustainability Foundation, under the patronage of the University of Basel, the University of Geneva and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN). The meeting was held online in Geneva (Switzerland). On June 9, 2020 CII representatives took part in high-level panel “COVID-19 X SDGs: Inequalities & the Informal Economy – Moving from crisis to long-term resilience”, organized by SDG Lab and International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting was held online from the Palais des Nations in Geneva (Switzerland). Participating in the webcast were: UN Geneva Director-General Tatiana Valovaya; ILO Director-General Guy Ryder; UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Executive Secretary Alicia Bárcena Ibarra; Mohammad Al Maita, Advisor to the National Commission for Migrant Workers and Refugees in Jordan (GFJTU); Henrique Barros, Head of National Health Council of Portugal and Director of Public Health Department at University of Porto; and Kate Philip, Head of the Inclusive Growth Pillar of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative of South Africa. Moderating the panel was SDG Lab Director Nadia Isler.
On March 18-20, 2020 CII
representatives took part in the Virtual Civil Society Forum and UNECE -
Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE Region that took place
in Geneva and online. During the Forum was discussed the first Russian
voluntary Report on SDGs implementation, prepared by the government and shadow
report, prepared by NGOs. Activities

Activities & Events 2018 On December 12, 2018 CII had organized a B2B meeting in Moscow for 10 Serbian companies to establish partnership trade relations between Russian and Serbian entrepreneurs within the UNDP project "Aid for Trade: Promoting Strengthening of Production Capacity in the Agribusiness Sector of Serbia". On November 13, 2018 in Belgrade (Serbia), CII experts held a seminar-presentation of the study on the export and certification in the Russian Federation of food and agricultural products for representatives of Serbian companies working in agribusiness and food industry within the UNDP project "Aid for Trade: Promoting Strengthening of Production Capacity in the Agribusiness Sector of Serbia". On October 22-25, 2018
was held the IXth International Conference, conducted in UN Palace of Nations
and World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland.
International Conference "International Cooperation: Innovation as a Tool
for Social and Economic Changes", devoted to implementation of the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals was organized by CII in cooperation with
the International Investment Center (Russia).The purpose of the conference was to
create a communication platform for: exchange of best practices in social and
economic areas; • ensuring the inclusion of innovations in the modern model of education, increasing the mobility of education; definition of favorable conditions for the implementation of various forms of international cooperation. On October 24, 2018 the Bilateral Meeting “International Cooperation: Innovation as a Tool for Social and Economic Changes” was held in WIPO as a part of the conference. The event was conducted under the CII observer status with WIPO and project, devoted to creation of CII Support Program for Innovators and Inventors. During the event were discussed such topics, as Traditional Knowledge and WIPO Green. CII had informed WIPO specialists about the results of joint research project with the A.V. Topchiev Institute of petrochemical synthesis of the Russian Academy of Sciences (TIPS RAS) in the field of industrial waste utilization, which was included in the WIPO Green platform. On
October 24, 2018 CII has established the International Chess Academy
under the CII charters. On October 23, 2018 the Round Table “Investing in Future: Green Economy and Green Technologies” was held in the Palace of Nations as a part of the conference under the CII associated status with UN DPI. On October 16, 2018 the CII released a cycle of 5 webinars devoted to the fight against tuberculosis, intended for representatives of the civil society, patients and non-profit organizations. Webinars are devoted to various topics, including: tuberculosis and HIV, tuberculosis and diabetes, tuberculosis and children, tuberculosis and smoking, tuberculosis and migrants. On September 19-21, 2018 CII representatives took part in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference "Chess in educational institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia and in other countries of the world". The conference was held in Leninogorsk (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia).
On August 29, 2018 the
Center for Information Technologies released a series of 3 webinars on
intellectual property (IP) issues, designed for young scientists, inventors,
innovators and all people, aimed on creating a new intellectual product.
Webinars are devoted to various topics, including: the concept of intellectual
property, international IP law, ways of protecting IP, trademarks and patents. Activities & Events
2017 On October 2-5, 2017 was
held the VIIIth International Conference, conducted in European Center for
Nuclear Research (CERN), UN Palace of Nations and World Intellectual Property
Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland. International Conference
"International Cooperation: Innovation as a Tool for Social and Economic
Changes", devoted to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals was
organized by CII in cooperation with the International Investment Center
(Russia) and Russian-Swiss Science Association (Switzerland). The participants
of the conference were citizens of 15 countries: scientists, researchers and
university professors, representatives of NGOs, government and business, as
well as UN, WIPO and CERN. The side event “Green
Innovations in the Russian Federation: Cases from the small business” was held
within the frames of WIPO General Assemblies as a part of the conference. The
event was conducted under the CII observer status with WIPO and project,
devoted to creation of CII Support Program for Innovators and Inventors. On January 23-24, 2017 CII representatives took part in meeting of the 1st International Forum of National Committees on Trade Facilitation UNCTAD. On February 28, 2017 CII
representatives took part in the NGO meeting with Mr. Francis Gurry, General
Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In his speech
Mr. Gurry had addressed results of NGOs activities in 2016, WIPO plans
for 2017 and NGOs role in this process. On March 1, 2017 CII
representatives took part in the UNCTAD Ocean Forum: Trade aspects in the light
of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 14) and distributed information
about innovative technology of fish industry waste utilization, within the
frames of creation of CII Support Program for Innovators and Inventors. On March 20-22, 2017 CII
representatives took part in the 11th session of the UNECE Committee. on
innovation, competitiveness and public-private partnerships. On May 15 - 19, 2017 CII
delegation had participated in the 19th session of the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO) Committee on Development and Intellectual Property
(CDIP), held in Geneva, Switzerland. The agenda included discussions on
technology transfer and WIPO's contribution to achieving the Sustainable
Development Goals (LDCs). On June 6, 2017 the
web-based UN Relations Support Centre for Russian-speaking Civil Society
Organizations (UNRSC RCSO) was launched, featuring information in Russian
language about UN system and SDGs, as a part of activities under the associated
status of CII with UN DPI. On June 9, 2017 CII
representatives took part in the Opening Ceremony of the Art project and
exhibition of the partner Italian association Qualitaly - "Along the Great
Silk Road" in Moscow (Russia). The exhibition featured works by Russian,
Chinese and Italian artists. On October 7, 2017 CII
representatives took part in the Opening Ceremony of the Biennale Art project
and exhibition of the partner Italian association Qualitaly - "Along the
Great Silk Road" in Turin (Italy). The exhibition featured works by
Russian, Chinese and Italian artists. On October 20-22, 2017 CII
representatives had participated in the International summit "City and of
Civil Society Organizations, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey. The President
of Turkey, Mr. Erdogan, has addressed the Forum participants with a welcoming
speech. At the Forum CII general secretary Ms. Olga Generalova-Kutuzova had
made a presentation "Civil Society Participation in the Implementation of
the UN Sustainable Development Goals" and CII president Mr. Andrei
Generalov had made a presentation: "Cooperation with the United Nations as
an instrument for strengthening the capacity of civil society
organizations". |
